Splendid City, sports scheduling on an expert level tutorial

The following tutorial demonstrates how fully interdivisional play is handled in Splendid City.

The goal of the schedule we are trying to achieve is to have 2 divisions of 5 teams playing balanced intra and inter divisional matches over the course of 21 days. In this, the 10 teams play 21 games, in a fully balanced schedule, with each team having 10 or 11 home games.

Each day there will be 5 games per day with [2 * 2] intra divisional games supplemented with one interdivisional game comprised of the bye teams from each of the prospective divisions. The 11th date will be comprised of fully interdivisional play.

The following is a grid display of the target schedule with the interdivisional games shaded orange. Division 1 Teams = { 1,2,3,4,5 }; Division 2 Teams = { 6.7.8.9.10 } Intra divisional games for Division 1 and 2 are shaded yellow and green respectively.
